Our Philosophy

Children

We treat children fairly and equitably as unique individuals, valuing each child and family’s diverse culture, values and experiences by providing rich experiences to suit their individuality. We encourage children to respect each other and to delight in all their differences. We believe in the importance of holistic growth and development for each child.

We promote the development of self-esteem, identity and wellbeing by respecting, accepting and comforting children, encouraging all children’s right to choice in their play, as well as celebrating their successes.

We promote use of good hygiene practices and in providing children with a wide variety of nutritional experiences in their daily meals.

Learning and Environment

We believe the child’s early play environment is important for lifelong learning and we provide a caring, safe, secure and fun environment that will stimulate and engage children to allow them to express their creativity, explore, experiment and discover, and to provide opportunities for them to delight in the natural environment.

We believe in the importance of learning through play by providing an abundance of both programmed and spontaneous indoor & outdoor activities that are shaped around Belonging, Being and Becoming-The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to foster each individual child’s growth across all developmental domains.

We acknowledge the original custodians of this land. We take proactive steps to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives in our program by connecting with people, resources and events. We strive to create an intercultural space where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and culture are also reflected in the environment and learning experiences.

We are committed to contribute to all dimensions of sustainability (environmental, social & economic). We promote respect for the inter dependency between people and the environment. We encourage awareness of every person’s role in caring for people, plants, lands, waters and animals both day to day and for long term sustainability. We become aware and use the 7Rs of sustainability (reduce, reuse, recycle, respect, repair, reflect, refuse).

Family and Community Partnerships

We value our partnerships with families. We welcome and provide opportunities for families to contribute to our centre and to allow free information flow between centre management, staff and families.

We recognise the importance of building and maintaining trusting and positive relationships with the community and industry professionals to meet the individual and collective needs of all children.

We believe in building positive relationships within our organisations and we work together as team members to encourage, support and communicate with each other to provide a nurturing and responsive environment which will allow the children to develop their potential. As educators we undertake to be positive role models for children across all areas and throughout each day.
